I'm Pooriya Jamie, a first-year Ph.D. student in Computational Communication and Data Science at UCLA. I focus on using data science and machine learning to improve cyber safety, social computing, and address algorithmic bias.

Pavel Savgira

Doctoral Student

I am a third-year Ph.D. student in Film and Media studies at UCLA. I'm interested in combining humanistic inquiry and computational analysis to develop validation methods that explain how large language models mediate contemporary media environments, identify their biases, and help address them.

Josie Arbuckle

I'm a student-athlete at UCLA pursuing a self-designed major in Critical Data Studies and Legal Systems. My academic work bridges statistical analysis, legal theory, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence. Through this interdisciplinary lens, I explore how data, law, and power interact to shape social outcomes and civil liberties.

Hamed Loghmani (Collaborator)

Applied Scientist

I am currently an applied scientist at Thomson Reuters Labs, providing AI-based solutions for tax and legal experts. The majority of my research background is dedicated to responsible AI; more specifically, fairness-aware neural recommender systems.

Sanchit Kabra (Collaborator)

Doctoral Student

I am Sanchit Kabra, a PhD student in Computer Science working on self-evolving agents for reasoning, scientific discovery, and responsible AI. My work is motivated by the goal of moving LLMs beyond static repositories of knowledge toward adaptive systems that can reason, learn, and improve over time as the core cognitive component of self-evolving agents. In my free time you would catch me learning sports science (aka Kinesiology).
